Designed for those who are serious about their photography, the Canon PowerShot Pro70 produces images at up to 1536x1024 pixel resolution and boasts a 28-70mm power zoom lens. Drawing on design elements of Canon's top-selling EOS, the Pro70 features sophisticated autofocus, four frame per second shooting in burst mode, and dual slots for CompactFlash cards.The Pro70's 1/2 inch 1.68 million pixel CCD (Charged Coupled Device) sensor yields a maximum resolution of 1,536 x 1,024 pixels. This newly developed sensor produces a 2:3 vertical-horizontal aspect ratio, comparable to that of 35mm cameras. The Pro70 offers a ``CCD Raw'' recording mode that allows high-resolution image data to be stored without compression for maximum quality. And when maximum resolution is not necessary, a 768 x 512 setting is available. The Pro70 also has the capability of Fine and Normal JPEG compression settings at both resolution settings.
When framing a shot, the photographer can choose either the real-time optical zoom viewfinder that provides a bright view for easy picture composition, or the advanced 2-inch low-temperature polysilicon TFT (thin film transistor) LCD monitor for the most accurate framing, image previewing, or on-the-spot playback. The Pro70's built-in 2.5x, 6-15mm (28-70mm equivalent in the 35mm format) f/2.0-2.4 power zoom lens incorporates 2 high-resolution aspherical elements in a 13-element formula, assuring superb edge-to-edge sharpness and low optical distortion with true wide-angle capability and macro.
The PowerShot Pro70 delivers a between-shots interval of less than four seconds at 1,536 x 1,024 resolution, for performance that is truly outstanding. The Pro70 also features a continuous shooting mode that enables image capture at up to four frames per second with up to 20 images recorded (768 x 512 resolution only).
The PowerShot Pro70 has no built-in flash but instead features an external accessory hot sync flash shoe enabling an optional Canon Speedlite 220EX or 380EX to be attached. These electronic flash units greatly expand the usable flash range and improve lighting quality for more versatility. The Pro70 takes maximum advantage of CompactFlash (CF) recording and storage, with a unique design that allows for two CF cards, including one Type II (IBM microdrive), a first for digital cameras.

a versatile camera! The images are sharp and clear. It focuses even in the
dark! When you press the shutter release to focus, the camera sends a narrow beam of
light to spot focus the subject. It uses a new technology called TTL
phase differential detection. That's why the Powershot Pro70's autofocus is quicker
and more precise than other digital cameras.
