Frequently Asked Questions

Is the USB XpressSCSI only for Macintosh (iMac)?
No, although the converter has been receiving a lot of attention from Mac media, the USB XpressSCSI is compatible with USB equipped Windows and Mac systems (running Windows 98 or Mac OS 8.5). The product is of special interest to iMac owners as there is no SCSI or other type of connector built in to the iMac.

Will the USB XpressSCSI support my flatbed or 35mm slide scanner?
While some scanner models may be compatible, the initial release of the USB XpressSCSI drivers will support fixed and removable storage devices (Zip, Jaz, Syjet, hard drives, etc.). Microtech expects to offer more comprehensive support for scanners in upcoming revisions.

Is there a compatibility list on this web site listing currently supported devices on the USB XpressSCSI?
Not currently. The product is in the final stages of development and Microtech is testing and re-testing various devices and configurations for compatibility. A compatibility list will be posted close to the time of shipment.
