OVERVIEW

CompactFlash (CF) technology is essentially a PC (PCMCIA) Card adapted to a smaller, matchbook-sized form factor. It is increasingly being used as a storage device in new smaller digital cameras and palmtop computers such as the Psion Series 5..  Microtech's Compact FlashFilm is designed, optimized, and tested especially for digital cameras. It has an extremely fast ATA controller. Read/Write speeds are typically 3 times that offered by other manufacturers.  Fast read/write speed improves the performance of digital devices which capture images to CF media (digital cameras), or transfer images from CF media to other devices (e.g. Card Readers).  Similarly, computers which operate on databases requiring substantial disk read/writes will see a performance increase. Just like a slow hard drive can slow your computer down, a slow CompactFlash can slow down your camera, PDA, palmtop, or laptop.

The Microtech CompactFlash Adapter accepts this CF card in one end and converts it to a standard Type II PC (PCMCIA) card at the other end. The adapter is then inserted into any notebook or reader/writer Type II slot with no loss of performance.  The Microtech CompactFlash Adapter allows the full potential of the fast Microtech CompactFlash to be accessed by the device it is inserted into.
