Most Digital Cameras, and PDAs such as Psion 5 can use Quest® AA NiMH batteries. 

NiMH batteries are high drain batteries- which means they will maintain their voltage at a higher current draw than either alkaline or NiCd batteries.  This results in longer life when used in applications like digital cameras where high battery drain (LCD displays and flash) eats up regular batteries.

Most of our customers order a set of batteries with charger, and an extra set of NiMH batteries.  They keep one set in their camera, and the other in the charger.  Then, before going on a shoot, they swap the NiMH batteries from the camera with those in the charger.  That way, they always have a fresh set of batteries. 

When purchasing a charger for NiMH batteries, look for a charger that takes a long time to charge. Quick chargers that charge AA batteries in two hours or less, heat the batteries too much, and shorten their life. Overnight chargers that take eight to ten hours or more heat the batteries less, and don't screw-up the battery chemistry. So they last longer, and will recharge many more times.
NiMH batteries will lose about 3% of their power per day when they are allowed to just sit. They need to be charged regularly to keep them 'topped off' and ready for use. There is no penalty for 'topping off' Quest NiMH batteries (as there is with NiCd batteries).   The Quest® batteries do not have a memory, so they don't have to be fully discharged to accept a full charge.
