The World's No. 1 Palmtop

Take your Office...
Away from the office but still hard at work? You need the essential tools you have on your desktop: wordprocessing, spreadsheets and communication facilities, as well as your personal databases and calendars. You need the ability to synchronize files and documents with your desktop computer upon your return.
wherever you go

The Psion Series 5 gives you the computing power that you need without the excess weight. It has a touch type keyboard and full page width touch-sensitive screen, yet weighs less than 13 ounces (or less than 360g), has around 35 hours of battery life and fits into your pocket.
The Series 5 handheld computer is compatible with all leading Windows 95/NT4 word processors, spreadsheets and databases, and synchronizes with schedule and contacts software on your desktop PC, including Microsoft, Lotus, Corel, WordPerfect and other applications. PsiWin 2 - included as standard - docks your Series 5 to your PC.

Psion, the creator of the Organizer and the volume leader in handheld computers has made a revolutionary advance in Palmtop Computing with the new  Psion Series 5.

The Series 5 incorporates:

There are two models, a 4MB and an 8MB. Both have an industry standard CompactFlash card slot to allow users to add additional memory. The Series 5 is about the size of a checkbook, weighs just 12.5 ounces and runs up to 35 hours on two AA batteries. There is even a digital voice recorder with external record, play/stop, and rewind buttons for access when the unit is closed. The screen resolution is the largest on a handheld device and allows users to view full page width documents, e-mail messages, and Web pages without horizontal scrolling.

The Series 5 uses a powerful 32-bit open operating system standard EPOC32. The ARM RISC 7100 processor provides exceptional power while preserving battery life. EPOC32 is optimized for low-power, portable machines and is equally at home in a smart phone, mobile network computer, or handheld computer. It is liscensed to major international companies outside the Psion Group. The Series 5 supports OPL, C++, and Java applications.

Built-in applications include a word processor, spreadsheet, database, and agenda. These enhanced applications allow users to create fully-formatted documents, complex spreadsheets, and even the ability to embed objects from one application to another. On-board software includes a scientific and standard calculator, world information and alarm clock, digital sound recording, and a sketching application. Object embedding, send/receive faxing, printing, spellchecker/thesaurus and multiple levels of zoom are available from every application.

The Series 5 is also supported by an extensive range of software from Psion and other third party developers. Titles include Pocket Quicken, Berlitz PhraseBook, route planning applications, expense tracking software, and (of course) games.
