This is the second year in a row that d-store has preempted the on-line digital photography community by being first to offer the newest lines of digital cameras. Most of the digital camera manufacturers are presenting their latest offerings at PMA2000 in Las Vegas, NV this week. PMA (Photo Marketing Association) is the parent association of the Digital Imaging Marketing Association.

The Nikon 990 is the latest addition to the Nikon Coolpix line, a series of pro-sumer digital cameras. The Nikon Coolpix 990 is the first of the new wave of 3.34-megapixel resolution digital cameras. It retains the best features of the Coolpix 950, adds the most-requested user improvements and includes many new and powerful features found only in the more expensive pro-sumer digicams.

The 990's 3.34 mexapixel CCD delivers a non-interpolated image resolution of 2048 x 1536. Recording modes include still image capture at up to 2 frames per second in full resolution, 320 x 240 QVGA at 30 frames per second and a new movie mode that shoots 40 seconds of QVGA Motion-JPEG at 15 frames per second.

The all glass, 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens has 38-115mm coverage (35mm equivalent) plus a virtually stepless 4x digital zoom option. If you enjoy shooting close-ups you can get as close as 0.8 inches away from your subject with the Nikkor lens' superb macro capability.

The Coolpix 990 accepts all optional Coolpix Lenses and accessories, including the Nikkor fisheye, wide-angle, 2x telephoto and a new 3x telephoto converter. Third-party 28-37mm stepup rings, filters and auxiliary lenses are available from d-store to further enhance your camera's capabilities
